Decoding the DNA of Science Standards and Cultivating Literacy in Science - Workshop 2

Morning Session - 8:00 - 12:00 - Cultivating Literacy in Science: Strategies for Comprehension

In the morning session, participants will learn about the differences between content and disciplinary literacy. Participants will also engage with vocabulary and comprehension strategies that can be used in the classroom to build their students' comprehension of science. 

Afternoon Session - 1:00 - 4:00 -  Decoding the DNA of Science Standards - Unraveling Objectives for Student Success

The afternoon session familiarizes participants with the MSCCRS Science Standards by highlighting the three dimensions of science learning.  Participants will decode the MSCCRS for Science and objectives, identify core ideas, and develop driving questions for intentional planning. 

Workshop Credits:  .8 CEUs  / 5 SEMIs - Participants must attend both the morning and afternoon session
