Desgining Rubrics for Analytical Reading and Writing (Series 2)

Designing Rubrics for Analytical Reading and Writing (Series 3)

During this 2-day session participants will review the alignment of their instructional components, so ALL students have access to the same high expectations of CCR standards. Participants that attended Institute #1 and Institute #2 will have an opportunity to build on the output from these previous sessions.

Each will establish and / or adjust their read / talk / write processes according to their own content (ELA/SS/History or Math/Science). Research-based acceleration practices for analytical content reading / writing instruction involve;

  • Practicing with complex content text and its academic language;
  • Reading, writing and speaking grounded in text both; and
  • Building knowledge through content-rich non-fiction
Rubrics that focus on simplicity, clarity, and priority will be developed according to the natural progression of CCR reading informational text and informational writing standards. The rubrics will be designed for instructional purposes, rather than evaluative.  These rubrics will guide learners to meet the same expectations using the natural progression within each power standard, key practices for deeper learning.  Participants will leave this session with a content reading and a content writing instructional rubric.

You DO NOT have to take these Series in any kind of order.
