Improving Student Achievement thru Counselor Effectiveness -

Today’s counselor must be a twenty-first-century professional.  They are advocates, leaders, collaborators, and agents of change.  As MS has increased rigor and aligned counselor standards to the American School Counseling Association Model.  In this three day, professional development school counseling goals will be aligned with the school improvement plan/strategic plan.  Counselors will set priorities for the school counseling program that align to provide student achievement.  Closing the gap between student achievement and the school counseling program will be a major focus of the professional development.

The school counselors will be provided guidance as they examine data and implement a plan for the school to improve student outcomes in partnership with stakeholders, home and school.  Strategies for this type of collaboration will be part of the hands-on activities of the professional development. School counselors will be guided in developing the abilities, knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to plan, organize, implement and evaluate a comprehensive and results-based school counseling program. A school counseling program that supports and promotes academic achievement, career planning and personal/social development for ALL students.
