Phonics First® (K-5th) Refresher and Syllabication Workshop

Designed for: K-5th grade teachers who have completed Phonics First® Level 1

 

This class is designed to receive the Brainspring Phonics First® Level 1 Orton-Gillingham training methodology.  Multi sensory techniques, strategies, and concepts will be reviewed, new insights will be gained and accuracy of the program will be emphasized.

 

Teachers will review:

·      Lesson plan components

·      Visual, auditory, tactile-kinetic techniques for phonetic and non-phonetic words

·      Syllabication strategies

·      Instructor led questions-and answer session

 

Upon completion, participants will:

·      Gain deeper understanding of each lesson component

·      Be better prepared to deliver Phonics First® lessons with fidelity

  

Prerequisite: Completion of Phonics First® Level 1 (K-5)

Class Hour: 30

 

Materials:

·      Participants must bring:

1.     Phonics First® Curriculum (green cover)

2.     Phonics First® Course Manual (blue cover)

3.     Phonics First® Strategy Cards (available from the Members Areas)

4.     Small white board/marker/eraser and/or sand tray

5.     Card Pack rubber banded by Layers (does not have to be in order with the layer)

6.     Red Words screen/crayon

7.     Phonics First® Syllabication Guide

8.     Phonics First® Stories

 

Course content is designed for: Teachers, Interventionists, and Literacy Coaches who have completed Phonics First K-5 Courses

Unless specifically noted otherwise, external contractors or vendors may not attend.
